Chatru 2015

Smiling goddess Fb 7C

After a gap of four years we came back to this little paradise for bouldering, nestled in a remote corner of the Himalayas. We could see the place has become popular, visited by climbers, trekkers, bikers, tourists  alike.. This time we wanted to try harder lines, that we could not try last time, the most obvious one was the classic  Smiling goddess Fb 7C, this line is located on the well known Smiling goddess boulder just behind Lalu"s dhaba. This gem is the work of the legendary Pil Lockey. Here is link for the story of his FA http://pils-trips.blogspot.com/2017/03/vital-force.html?m=1
The problem is a classic one, requiring a series of  hard powerful moves up to the top, then a desperate top out . we stared working the line, after a few session on it over a few days we were able to link the moves up to the top. but the top out remained a doubt, none the less we were happy with our effort

After a couple of rest days we felt strong and was eager to try and finish this line ,  On 17th September condition became much cooler offering really good friction on the top out. we wanted to take this chance , on my fifth go on the redpoint attempt  i managed  to match the sloper , and then with the use of my right heel execute the mantle to top out, i felt great joy & relief at the same time after completing the problem.

Bouldering is the premier venue for pushing the absolute limit of free climbing  Sugar Fish Fb 8B+ ✅   After the last season's project with Bernd Zangerl, Guilliano Cameronni and Melislisa Le neve the psych was high and we invested more time for training, from January to April we worked at a climbing gym as coach and route setter and as the summer approaches headed up to the mountains. this year the motivation was high for some really hard and high quality lines. Rakchham harbours world class bouldering and climbing, so it was our main focus of the year. We reached Rakchham around April and immediately started working and trying the test pieces. While climbing in Rakchham we had to make a few breaks as we have to go to Manali for doing some bouldering and climbing workshops for a few weeks, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it provided some important phases to recover and rejuvenate which is so important while projecting at your limit. This year turned out to be ...

The next day after resting for the first half  i went out with my coaches nibbi &jibbi  to check out some lines on the local crags Mention worthy was the Mazhar area near Jatashankar temple, and acquainted myself  with the ro...
